Recently Jupiter entered Pisces just as Mercury entered his pre-retrograde shadow phase. Confusion and hesitancy with regard to new information and breaking headlines can be traced back to these aspects, as Jupiter in Pisces begins to spread a hazy fog of uncertainty, making clarity an elusive goal. Meanwhile Mercury’s strength in Gemini is unparalleled, and as he is newly in the retrograde shadow zone he is certainly playing the part of the trickster. What’s real and what’s fantasy? What can we know for certain and where should we remain open-minded? Where should we throw our hands to the skies and run towards freedom, and where should we tread lightly forward with some level-headed caution?
This week begins with a powerful Sun-Pluto trine that speaks to us of a deep shift in what we wish to express and embody. The Sun gives life to everything, including our birth chart. Pluto investigates the roots and deconstructs that which is no longer serving evolutionary purposes. In a trine, we find that these two planets come together to help us shed layers that are inauthentic, disingenuous and unneeded.
Around the middle of the week, we can find that there is a more serious tone in the context of relationships, values, material resources and the love we desire. When Venus and Saturn meet up, indulgences and sensuality must find a way to mingle with structure-building and long-term growth. This is a great time to check in with our current circumstances and assess the sustainability of our habits, relationships and financial status against the goal of longevity. Are these structures in our life built to last? Saturn comes in to help us make mature, wise and proper adjustments where needed.
Later in the week, the Sun enters Gemini, thus beginning Gemini Season. Happy Birthday, Gemini friends!!! In general, Gemini Season denotes a time of increased social activity, mental stimulation, lighthearted distractions and child-like curiosity. This particular Gemini season is sure to have its fair share of surprising twists and turns, as Mercury is also occupying this space in the sky and preparing for his retrograde period. By the end of the month we will all be rethinking, revising and reviewing at least one area of life as indicated by the house ruled by Gemini in our natal charts. The Sun’s journey in Gemini will amplify and highlight this evolutionary process. Just after entering Gemini, the Sun will square Jupiter, giving us an idea of where we may be excessively expending our energy with no meaningful return on the investment. Take note of what drains you around this time.
The weekend opens with Mercury’s square to Neptune, infusing our thoughts and words with vivid imagination. Plan to express yourself creatively! With a square aspect, some tension is implied – therefore it will be important to be mindful of smooth-talkers or anyone attempting to sell us something that feels too good to be true. This isn’t to say that the opportunity in front of us is bogus; rather, we would be wise to take it with a grain of salt and allow proper time to consider the pros and cons before making a quick commitment or signing any documents.
Sunday ends the week with Saturn stationing retrograde in Aquarius. It is now time to revisit themes of authority, public status, rules/regulations, groups, society, innovation, technological advancement and scientific discovery. Until recently, Jupiter was Saturn’s companion in Aquarius, helping to expand an innovative spirit. Since Jupiter has since moved on to Pisces, Saturn’s work is cut out for him as he backtracks over his own (and Jupiter’s) steps to assess the progress made. We may see increased shifts in societal and global structures as Saturn continues to square change-seeking Uranus – this time in a backwards motion.
