Welcome to the official beginning of Summer! And Happy Birthday, Cancer friends! We have officially hopped onto a new spoke of the Wheel of Time as we enter an astrological season of cardinal water.
In Cancer, the subjective experience of life is born. Here we find an initiation into the experiences of emotion, intuition, and nurturance. Sensitivity is certainly heightened in Cancer and for good reason. Through sensitivity there is increased awareness and a new dimension of intelligence that cannot be found in the logical mind alone. Ruled by the Moon, Cancer helps us find safety, protection, and nourishment for the arduous journey of life.
Venus meets up with Jupiter early in the week, setting the stage for a mystical flow of events that can inspire us and help us tap into a bigger picture view of our life. If you need help cultivating compassion or forgiveness (for yourself or others), this transit can help you sink into your soul space to find deeper peace. If you are an artist of any kind, do not hesitate to take full advantage of this energy, as you can easily tap into Spirit and channel creative masterpieces.
On Tuesday, Mercury stations direct, signaling that Mercury retrograde is officially o-v-e-r! If you are excited to put aside the shenangians, mishaps and confusion, you are certainly not alone! With Mercury’s going direct, there comes a great opportunity to integrate what we have learned. What perspectives were unlocked for us during the retrograde that we may not have had access to prior? How does new information help us make new choices? Perhaps most importantly, we should certainly find a sense of empowerment in surviving the journey Mercury retrograde took us through. In any case, it’s now time to move forward with plans, communications, and contracts that we’ve had ample time to consider and review.
On Thursday we have a Full Moon in the sign of Capricorn. One signature mark of this Full Moon is a Sun-Jupiter trine that brings in an expansive ray of light to illuminate some area of life. Another signature mark of this lunation is that the Moon herself shares a sextile with Jupiter, adding to the rich potential for growth. Venus and Pluto meet up in an opposition around this time as well, which speaks to a purging process in the context of the way we relate with others, what we desire, and how we experience pleasure. We may find that we have outgrown relationships with people, places or things, friendships, or jobs and therefore we must make potentially painful adjustments. In doing so, we can dig up the root of whatever pattern we have been stuck in and level the ground for fresh soil and new growth potential.
Chiron is another key player in this Full Moon. This asteroid contacts Saturn RX and Mars, both in supportive ways. We must take responsibility for our actions, especially when they are related to our deepest wounds. In some ways we have all felt restricted in our independence and autonomy, and around this time we may find a golden opportunity to put down the shield we created as a result of past pain in favor of stepping into a new dimension of mature, wise, and empowered action.
Neptune will station retrograde on Friday. Outer planets, such as Neptune, spend long periods of time each year in a retrograde motion. For this reason, the effects are not felt as intensely on a personal level as the personal planet (i.e. Mars, Venus, Mercury) retrogrades are. However, it should be noted that we may collectively be revisiting spiritual lessons of compassion and love-based service to mankind during this time.
The weekend brings us Venus’ ingress into Leo, where she joins Mars. In whatever house in your chart is ruled by Leo, there will now be a need to effectively balance both “masculine” (Mars: logic, action, strategy) and “feminine” (Venus: intuition, feelings, receptivity) energies. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and show off your talents! Leo loves to give a good performance and make its way into the hearts of others.
