Happy Birthday to all of our Aquarius friends! On Tuesday January 19 @ 12:40 pm PT / 3:40 pm ET the Sun joins Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury in the sign of Aquarius, marking the official beginning of a very “extra” Aquarius Season. This will begin a month-long journey into consciousness oriented toward futuristic visions of progress and an overall increased focus on current concerning global issues.
On Inauguration Day in the United States (January 20), Mars will conjunct Uranus and these two planets together will square Saturn and Jupiter. Mars is the planet of desire, assertiveness and ego drive and is currently in the earth sign of Taurus, seeking practical results. Uranus is the planet of sudden movement, groundbreaking changes and the urge for liberation. Uranus is also in Taurus, where he is extremely uncomfortable and a whole entire paradox – but driven toward freedom, nonetheless. The fact that Mars and Uranus are in conflict with Saturn and Jupiter during a week of already mounting intensity and pressure is, well…. very concerning.
So what does it all mean? While no one knows *exactly* how this energy will manifest, one thing is certain: the aspects of this week indicate a real need for extra protection and security measures in the event of sudden (Uranus) ego-driven anger channeled into action (Mars) against perceived restrictions (Saturn) in the name of belief systems (Jupiter). This is NOT a week to engage in risk taking, egoic outbursts or anger-driven action. Frustration is likely to be present, but we would be wise to avoid confrontation at this time. Channeling anger and aggression into physical exercise is a much more evolved way to work with this kind of energy.
On January 23 Mars brushes up against Jupiter, bringing in another stream of energetic friction. Jupiter is the biggest planet – which is why he is associated with expansion and growth. With dynamic tension between animalistic desires (Mars) and the need to expand (Jupiter), the name of the game here is going to be TEMPERANCE. Fortunately, the Sun will conjunct Saturn on the same day and our internal system of discipline and structure can kick into gear just when we may need it most. A sextile between Venus and Neptune can help us (if we so desire to) tap into the deepest sense of compassion, universal love and unity as we move through perhaps the most intense years of our lifetime.
After much anticipatory anxiety leading up to this moment in both history and astrology, it is truly my deepest hope that we can move through this period in time and space as peacefully and safely as possible. It is my greatest hope that we may tap into Neptune’s compassion and unconditional love as a true saving grace this week.
