Cathartic Release
To simply say that this week will be emotional does not give justice to the depth of our individual and collective experiences. Monday’s Cancer Full Moon promises to bring powerful raw feelings to the surface that have likely been hidden until now. Some emotional truth wants to be known and will force itself into our consciousness during this lunar event. An opposition to Pluto tells us that this Full Moon is serious about bringing new truth to light, possibly through uncovering secrets or catapulting us into a new level of conscious awareness from which we can gain deeper clarity about something. Some of us will have to let go of something to purify our heart. Emotional labor will be required of us in one way or another, so it’s imperative that we accept responsibility for our feelings and carve out time and space to process our experience – and, perhaps, give proper respect to the grief that wants to be felt.
Following the Full Moon, Uranus stations direct on Tuesday, potentially causing a jolt of unrest as the planet responsible for sudden shifts locks into its’ new forward motion. Now back online, Uranus can continue to push for radical change in the way we approach our relationship to nature, resources, money and food. Sometimes the most profound change can be found in getting back to the basics (Taurus).
Also on Tuesday, Mercury and Chiron meet in a sextile which opens the door of opportunity to work with creative tension in a way that heals old patterns. Where in our lives are we being asked to stand up and lead rather than follow in someone else’s footsteps? How can we strike a balance between cultivating independence and building community with others? What is the benefit of striking off on our own path long enough to bring back our unique wisdom to benefit the larger group?
As if Tuesday was not already jam packed with astrological shifts, the North and South Nodes of the Moon will enter Taurus/Scorpio. This change ends the previous 1.5 year cycle of the Nodes being in Gemini/Sagittarius. We are all feeling the effects of information and stimulus overload – and now our journey is to find rest, recuperate and reconnect with nature’s rhythms. The eclipses will follow the Nodes, meaning that the houses in your chart ruled by Taurus and Scorpio will get a lot of evolutionary impact over the next 1.5 years. Aquarius Season officially begins on January 19th at 8:39pm CT / 9:39pm ET. Happy Birthday, Aquarius!! This year’s solar trip through Aquarius will include a Mercury retrograde (also in Aquarius), shining a brighter light on the area of our chart ruled by this fixed air sign. On a global level, this Mercury retrograde will urge us to review our mental framework – and ask us to consider experimenting with new approaches. Our individual connection to society at large is also up for a major review as we continue to navigate dire global issues. Are we contributing to the causes we care the most about? What unique healing frequency are we contributing to the collective consciousness? How can we continue to shed our past conditioning in favor of showing up fully embodied in our authentic truth?
The week ends with the Aquarius Sun merging with Mercury retrograde in a conjunction. Although our mental faculties are blurred a bit, this aspect can bring new insight related to our purpose or creative process. One gift of Mercury retrograding through Aquarius is the ability to think about our lives from an objective point of view that factors in all variables.
