This week is about transitions: from Aquarius to Pisces season and from Mercury retrograde to Mercury direct. Since January 20th the Sun’s focus has been on Aquarius themes: liberation, uniqueness, authenticity, freedom. Now, from February 18th until March 20th we will begin to focus on Pisces: spirituality, intuition, psychic sensitivity and subconscious realms. Additionally, our month-long Mercury retrograde chapter of reviewing, revising, rethinking and revisiting (with a side of hot-mess-muddled-communication) comes to an end – but with Pisces season just around the corner, don’t expect the fog to lift completely just yet! Pisces energy is known for being hazy and anything but easily identifiable or concrete.
We begin the week with a highly beneficial aspect between Venus in Aquarius and the North Node in Gemini. The trine aspect is said to be the easiest flowing energy, and this is occurring between our personal values (Venus) related to modern expansion for humanity (Aquarius) and the collective path of evolution (North Node) toward flexibility and change (Gemini). We can harness this energy by contemplating our individual role in the bigger picture going on; what is on our heart? Where do we feel inspired to add our innate talents to the mix? The North Node asks us to diversify our reference points, connect with our community and broaden our experience by seeking to learn new information.
Adding a layer of intensity is a demanding Saturn-Uranus square in the middle of the week. With Saturn in Aquarius sharing a tense aspect with Uranus in Taurus, some of the highlighted themes can include money, food, resource distribution, societal responsibility, mental and physical boundaries, commitment to something bigger than yourself, physical wellness, social innovation, inspired creativity, concrete action and the ongoing struggle for equity. Saturn represents tradition, the past, hard-earned achievements and societal systems such as government while Uranus represents almost the opposite: innovation, future-forward thinking, invention, new solutions to old problems, novelty and humanitarian systems/causes that benefit all. A square forces these two planets to find a way to integrate their energies even though they are inherently not an easy match up.
Venus in Aquarius will square Mars in Taurus on Friday. This aspect speaks to a potential conflict between feminine and masculine principles. It may take shape and form as a relationship struggle between two partners, an argument about money/independence issues, or simply an internal conflict between our need for stability and comfort and our deep desire to break through “normal” circumstances to experience freedom. Taking a personal inventory of our progress, especially as Mercury stations direct and its wisdom begins to set in, can help us find a spiritual compass to follow. This is a great time to be sure we aren’t doing things simply out of habit and instead infuse focused intention into our routines.
