“Rolling in the Deep”
Fresh off the recent Full Moon energy, we enter this week perhaps feeling extra emotionally tender. We can be processing recent news we’ve received (or given) and conversations we’ve had. With Venus now being retrograde, we can be feeling extra nostalgic as we are cosmically guided down memory lane.
On Monday Mercury and Uranus, both in earth signs, share a supportive energy exchange that can bring new thoughts and ideas into our conscious awareness. The urge to break free from restriction – especially mentally – will be strong this week. Where we may have been stubborn or felt mentally blocked before, we can now find new solutions or perspectives that are rooted in practicality. We ought to remain open to experimenting with fresh approaches to creating more sustainable security as Uranus in Taurus continues to disrupt and revolutionize.
The Winter Solstice occurs on Tuesday. In the northern hemisphere, this marks the official beginning to the season of winter, as it is the shortest and darkest day of the year. The cold energy of this season of stillness reverberates through the atmosphere, sparing no one from the depth of feeling enveloping our psyche. We would be wise to flow with Mother Nature by slowing down and prioritizing our rest and rejuvenation – regardless of what others seem to be doing.
Capricorn Season begins on Tuesday December 21 at 7:59am PT / 9:59am CT / 10:59am ET. Happy Birthday, Capricorn!! You hold it all down and keep us accountable, and for that we appreciate you – at least, in the long run! 🤣
On a collective level, this season spent in the element of cardinal earth typically turns our attention toward reflecting on our accomplishments and measuring our progress. Since Capricorn Season encompasses the turn of the calendar year, this includes the tradition of looking back on the year we just lived while also setting goals for the new year ahead. We are also more motivated to participate in tradition and uphold societal structures during Capricorn Season, as can be observed in the tendency to drag ourselves through the holiday season spending time in uncomfortable situations and with unfavorable company because it’s “just what we do”. But – hold on to your hats – because Pluto is working its way through Capricorn and will be continuing to help us tear down systems that are no longer working (especially in 2022).
The astrology of Christmas Eve can be described as unstable and unpredictable, as Saturn and Uranus square off. This tense aspect is responsible for the highlighted struggle between the “old” and the “new”. While some strongly prefer to stick to societal traditions and familiarity, others are ready to create new foundations based on upgraded value systems. This struggle can be reflected in our individual lives (i.e.: tension in family dynamics) as well as in the collective human experience as we check off year two in a global pandemic.
On Christmas Day Venus, newly retrograde, will merge energy with Pluto for a second time. The first time this conjunction occurred was December 11th. To get a sense of what this means for you personally, think back to that time and consider what was going on in your life. There is a connecting thread here that Venus is asking us to revisit.
Due to the conjunction with Pluto, Venus promises to dredge up a lot of material from the past – especially related to personal values, societal systems, relationships, money and contracts. Relationships and contractual agreements that are relatively stable will likely undergo deep transformation. In general, though, we can all expect a rebirth of our connections with other people, where we are evaluating things like perceived value addition or subtraction, stability and longevity. Because Pluto is involved, it is also worth exploring our fear of intimacy and vulnerability as it relates to our desire for a stable foundation.
Over the weekend, Mercury and Neptune meet and will initiate a time of spiritual contemplation. How do we use both the logical mind AND a touch of imagination? How can we use a blend of facts and intuition to inform our decision making? The truth is that tapping into our intuition and spiritual nature is an entire form of intelligence in its own right. Speaking from the heart and channeling unconditional love through words or other forms of self-expression are possible under this transit. Artists can especially benefit from Mercury and Neptune working together, as the aptitude for creativity is enhanced through access to ethereal visions.
